CBS Corporation (NYSE:CBS) is one of the
highest percentage and volume gainer within a few minutes of trading. It
currently trades at $10.51, gaining 23% on 2.05 million shares and 6,208 trades.
The 52 week trading range for the stock is $0.49 and $12.60. Today, Benchmark
analyst says, "We are upgrading CBS to a Buy as the stock appears well
positioned to benefit from the improving economic outlook and the eventual
recovery in advertising revenues. We also think the Company should benefit from
management's growth strategy to continue expanding non-advertising
revenues...While network upfront sales came in lower than expected, pricing was
stronger than anticipated. CBS held back inventory to take advantage of the
emerging opportunities in the scatter market. Scatter market pricing increased
sharply and sales pacing improving significantly at television stations as well.
We expect sequential quarterly improvement over the course of 2009. Radio
picking up rapidly could bolster second half."
CBS Corp. (NYSE:CBS) reported
fiscal Q2 EPS of 8 cents, ex-items, beating the consensus estimates by one
penny. Revenues for the quarter fell 11% year-over-year to $3.01 billion,
missing the consensus estimates of $3.04 billion. Executive Chairman Sumner
Redstone said, "Leslie and his management team continue to run CBS with a sure
and steady hand. We are focused on what matters most: maintaining financial
flexibility and positioning the Company as one of the leading beneficiaries in
an economic recovery. I am proud of the work our people do each day to achieve
these goals, and confident in CBS's bright
future." |
